Dental For Everyone in the Family
Also like a family doctor, a family dentist's primary job is to
be the first level of defense against dental related issues from
simple tooth aches to dental implants. By far, a family dentist's
primary obligation is in preventing dental problems. Like a
pediatric dentist (pedodontist), a family dentist will educate
children at an early age on how to properly maintain their teeth to
support optimal dental health. For older dental patients, family
dentistry practices can do dental crowns, dental bridges, dental
implants, and dentures. Some practices also offer teeth whitening
or porcelain veneers which are typically performed by cosmetic
dentists.
Although, the most common reason people make a visit to their
family dentist is for their bi-yearly checkups. Common visits
typically include deep cleanings to remove plaque buildup and
preventive coatings for the teeth which precludes tooth decay. The
two-time-a -year visit can go a long way in preventing serious
dental alignments as well as help detect symptoms of serious
diseases in advance.
